Scented Grass Bulbine belong to the subfamily Asphodelaceae.
Scented Grass Bulbine (Bulbine capitata) belong to the subfamily Asphodelaceae. They grow amongst rocks in grassland or in bushveld with open grassy patches of ground, usually in small grass-like clumps about 30cm high in and around Windhoek extending north to Okahandja and around Otavi, Grootfontein and Tsumeb.
A characteristic of this plant is that every flower has a central bunch of disarranged stamens. Their minute sweet-scented yellow flowers flower from August to November and attract butterflies and bees. They are deciduous, need plenty of sunshine, some water and are frost hardy.
