Introduction: The German equivalent of schorl, refers to the rejection of black stones in the washing of gold and tin ores. It is a common accessory mineral in some metamorphic rocks and granite pegmatites.

Composition: Silicate

Crystal system: Hexagonal

Lustre: Resinous, vitreous

Streak: White

Hardness: 7
