Introduction: Crystals of pyrope are an attractive pink, pink-red, orange-red to purple-red colour and dodecahedral in shape. They are named from the Greek pyropos which means 'fire-like', referring to the characteristic red colour.
Distribution: Found in the kimberlites clustered in the Gibeon-Brukkaros region.
