Introduction: Mimetite comes from the Greek word 'mimetes' or 'imitator', a reference to its supposed resemblance to pyromorphite. It is a secondary mineral found in some lead deposits. Some of the world's most exceptional crystals have come from Namibia.
Distribution: Tsumeb Mine. Gem-quality prismatic crystals over 3cm long and groups of crystals were discovered. The Arenab West Mine has also reported finds of mimetite.
