Fluorapophyllite

Introduction: Fluorapophyllite is almost always white, cream or colourless and has a variety of shapes. Crystals are formed pseudocubic, pyramidal, elongated prisms and tabular. It is the fluorine-bearing member of the apophyllite group.

Distribution:The Aris phonolites south of Windhoek have produced some striking fluorapophyllite crystals.

Composition: Silicate

Crystal system: Tetragonal

Lustre: Vitreous

Streak: White

Hardness: 4.5-5
