Introduction: Chromite is found in ultramafic rock formed of chromite crystals called chromitites. It is a major economic chromium-bearing mineral used for chemical purposes, metallurgical and refractory purposes. It has excellent anti-corrosive and abrasive resistant properties.
Distribution: South of Epupa in Kaokoland and scattered deposits around Windhoek.
Composition: Oxide.
