Azurite

Namibia has some of the most magnificent azurite in the world.

Introduction: Some of the most magnificent azurite crystals in the world have come from Namibia. The country's top quality specimens from Tsumeb are amongst the most sought after in the world. Azurite is a secondary mineral associated with some copper deposits.

Distribution: Tsumeb Mine, Onganja copper mine in the Windhoek district

Composition: Carbonate

Crystal system: Monoclinic

Lustre: Vitreous

Streak: Blue

Hardness: 3.5-4
