Introduction: Although the Stripe-Bellied Sand snake is fast on its belly and difficult to catch, many are caught by birds of prey. They prefer an open dry savannah, thornveld or bushveld habitat.
Distribution: Northern and western Namibia. Etosha National Park, Tsumkwe and the Kalahari Desert, Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip), Okavango Delta and Moremi Game Reserve.
Diet: Small birds, lizards and rodents are taken on excursions into low bush.
Colouring: A grey-olive back, bright yellow belly. Dorsal stripes and head blotches.
Breeding: Females lay between 4 and 10 eggs.
Size: Max SVL male 900mm, female 885mm.
