Introduction: Cape and Eastern thread snakes (Leptotyphlops conjunctus) prefer a grassland and arid savannah type habitat.
Distribution: There is an isolated population in Windhoek extending north to Okahandja, including the Von Bach Dam and Gross Barmen Hot Springs Resort.
Diet: Fleas, ants and termites.
Colouring: The body and belly are a uniform brown-black.
Breeding: Females lay around 3 or 4 small eggs similar in size to grains of rice. Eggs hatch in February to March.
Size: Max SVL 175mm.
