Plain sand lizard
Introduction: The Plain Sand lizard (Pedioplanis inornata) is a small species endemic to Namibia. It is similar in size to the Waterberg sand lizard with the tail just over twice the length of the head and body. It is a terrestrial creature and can be observed foraging around succulent vegetation on open bedrock surfaces on the lower reaches of mountains.
Distribution: South-west Namibia from the Orange River to Swakopmund and the southern central highlands.
Diet: Small insects.
Colouring: Plain grey-brown back with a network of pale green spots on the sides.
Breeding: Females lay 2 eggs.
Size: SVL 40 to 50mm. Max SVL 52mm.
