Introduction: The small Kaokoland sand lizard (Pedioplanis gaerdesi) is another endemic Namibian lizard featuring a tail 3 times the size of the head and body length. They prefer desert gravel plains and run around small boulders, sheltering in small tunnels at the base of bushes or under a large rock.

Distribution: Kaokoland to Erongo.

Diet: Small insects.

Colouring: Red-brown body with a golden tinge. Pale yellow spots on the sides and a cream belly.

Breeding: Not known.

Size: SVL 45 to 50mm. Max SVL 52mm.
