Introduction: Tremelo Sand frogs (Tomopterna cryptotis) favour most habitats in grassland and savannah. Males call from the edge of water, difficult to see because of their excellent camouflage. Frog choruses are a congregation of series of high-pitched, melodious notes.

Distribution: Far eastern ranges of the country only, Orange to Kavango River.

Diet: Insects and spiders.

Colouration: Brown to green upperparts, enriched with dark-edged marbling and some dark spots. The underside is white.

Breeding: Tadpoles grow to 37mm.

Maximum size: 51mm.
