Whip stick acacia

Whip stick acacia: This slender shrub grows a number of long, drooping, whip-like branches up to 5m high. Acacia robynsiana can be observed only in the rocky outcrops, mountain summits and slopes of Damaraland north and Kaokoland. Characteristics of this plant include reddish-brown bark, straight or curved thorns that develop in pairs and smooth olive-green leaves.

White to pale yellow flowers bloom from August to February and olive-brown seeds mature in a straight, yellowish-brown fruit pod. Not surprisingly the long stems of this shrub are used to make walking sticks.
