Kalahari wild medlar

Kalahari wild-medlar (Vangueria cyanescens): This deciduous, many-stemmed plant is also called the forest wild-medlar. Mountainous savannah is its main habitat where it can grow up to 4m high mainly in Namibia's northern regions along the Kunene and Kavango River regions, the Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip) and some central-north areas of the country.

The grey bark is smooth supporting pale brown, hairless young branchlets. The leaves are dark green above and pale green on the undersides. The flowers are yellow-green, corolla tub bell-shaped which display mainly in December. Fruits are yellow-brown when mature with up to 5 seeds.
