Christmas brides bush

Christmas Bride's Bush (Pavetta gardeniifolia var. gardeniiflolia) inhabit rocky outcrops and open woodland in the Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip). Large numbers of creamy-white nectar-rich flowers hang from branches of shiny dark-green foliage.

The fruits of this plant attract Black-collared and Crested Barbets, Black-eyed Bulbuls and Mousebirds. The fruits are also eaten by monkeys. Flowering time is either side of December (hence the common name), they are frost hardy, require lots of sunshine and some shade and a moderate amount of water.
