A River Lily (Crinum macowanii) is a large, bell-shaped flower, either pale-pink to dark-pink, occasionally with dark streaks. They usually grow along rivers between Windhoek and Okahandja and Otjiwarongo and Grootfontein.
Flowering time is from October to February. Stalks grow up to 1.2m tall above a clump of strap-shaped green leaves. They require a lot of sunshine, some watering and are frost hardy. They attract bees and butterflies.
