Gha grass (Centropodia glanca) is another perennial grass whose role as an 'important dune stabilizer' is confirmed by it being able to withhold sand build-up. It has a bushy appearance due to its growth patterns, blue-green leaves and its flowers are in a compact arrangement that are evident at the tip.
Centropodia glanca occur in the Northern Cape and throughout the Namib and Kalahari Deserts, in part due to it being restricted to dunes and moving sand. It provides good grazing and only 2 species occur in Namibia.
