A. microstigma are an attractive, small, spotted species found in some numbers between granite boulders in south-western Namibia. Large clusters appear in an open grassed valley in this region and others grow near A. striata ssp Kar in a different but close-by area. Single plants can also be observed.
This is a very common species in southern Africa. Pretty red flowers appear in May and June, fading to light green yellow with age. Their narrow, thin leaves are decorated with irregular white oblong spots, but damage easily. A miniature version not higher than 30cm can be found in the Sperrgebiet.
