Introduction: Shell-boring spionids (Polydora spp.) are tiny worms that burrow in shells and limestone. Features include a pair of thin, furrowed palps and enlarged hook-like bristles on the 5 segment. Are known to kill or weaken oysters by drilling and creating 'mud-blisters'.
Distribution: From the Orange River north to Luderitz, Sandwich Harbour, Walvis Bay and Swakopmund north to Jakkalsputz, Henties Bay, Cape Cross, Torra Bay and Terrace Bay on north of Möwe Bay.
Diet: Minuscule ocean creatures
