Feathery sea fan
Introduction: Feathery sea pens (Virgularia shultzei) grow vertically out of the sand in dense colonies. They are very long and thin with a fragile central axis. Polyps are set in groups of 15 to 35, either side of a central stem on a flat leaf-like affair.

Max size: Colony 20cm long, 10mm wide
