Introduction: Ribbed-scale chitons (Ishnochiton bergoti) have distinctive finely pitted valves, at times with indistinct radiating ridges. The scales on the girdle have 3 to 8 rough ribs, hence the name.
Distribution: Throughout Namibian waters including Luderitz, Sandwich Harbour, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.
Diet: Minute plant matter.
Colouration: Off-white to brown
Breeding: Broods eggs underneath the girdle.
Max size: 20mm
