Introduction: Volcano barnacles (Tetraclita serrata) are tall, dark grey and as the name suggests, volcano-shaped. There are only 4 heavily-ribbed shell plates, at times difficult to view as separate. They are 20mm in length, dominating the mid-intertidal zone invertebrates in sheltered shores.
Distribution: Habitats include the coastal regions of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, Luderitz and Henties Bay.
