White bellied yellow bat

Introduction: The White-Bellied Yellow Bat, scientifically known as Scotophilus leucogaster, is a fascinating bat species found in select regions of Africa. As part of the yellow bat family, they are characterized by their distinctive yellowish colouration and specific roosting preferences.

Distribution: The White-Bellied Yellow Bat is typically found in various regions of Africa, particularly in northern Namibia. Their habitat ranges from open plant vegetation to semi-arid regions and riverine forests. These bats are also known to roost in thatched roofs, commonly found in accommodations and lodges within their distribution range.

Diet: Like many other bat species, the White-Bellied Yellow Bat's diet consists mainly of insects. They actively prey on various flying insects, including mosquitoes, beetles, and moths, which they locate using echolocation.

Weight: The weight of this bat species typically ranges between 12 to 14 grams.
