Uroplectes vittatus can be found under fallen logs or the bark of trees.

Uroplectes vittatus

Introduction: Uroplectes vittatus can be found under fallen logs or the bark of trees. Be wary of carrying wood in the Caprivi, people are often stung in this way.

Distribution: Caprivi Strip only.
Diet: Seeks unsuspecting ants, termites and spiders as opposed to the sit-and-wait technique of other genera.
Colouration: Yellow-orange to orange-brown. The last 2 tail segments are dark.
Breeding: Litters of up to 20 are common, gestation lasting for a couple of months.
Maximum size: 55mm.
