Introduction: Opistophthalmus flavescens construct burrows from 30 to 50cm deep in fortified vegetation growing in sand dunes.
Distribution: Southern Namib Desert sand systems from Luderitz to Walvis Bay.
Diet: Any insect, spider or scorpion it can overpower, pincers flexed at the ready.
Colouration: Shiny dark body with lighter legs, pincers, tail and sting.
Breeding: Litters of 15 to 25 are common.
Maximum size: 95mm.
