Lisposoma elegans

 Introduction: Because of their size and limited distribution, Lisposoma elegans are rarely seen. They inhabit open ground, usually under small rocks on hard ground and give a painful sting. Their thick tails are a distinguishing feature.
Distribution: Kunene River, Epupa Falls, northern Namib Desert and Skeleton Coast, Brandberg Mountains and Spitzkoppe.
Diet: Insects, spiders and other scorpions.
Colouration: Pale.
Breeding: Young cling to the female for around 2 days and hydrate by absorbing water from the mother's body.
Maximum size: 28mm. Males are smaller and more slender than females.
