Male Two-banded Cruisers often cruise the river by day and hunt in clearings above high ground in the evening.

Introduction: Male Two-banded Cruisers (Phyllomacromia contumax) often cruise the river by day and hunt in clearings above high ground in the evening.

Distribution: Kunene, Kwando, Kavango and Zambezi Rivers with 1 recording in Otjiwarongo town centre.

Colouration: Brownish thorax with a metallic green sheen. There are no yellow stripes but there is a yellow saddle on S2. The abdomen is mostly black with around 6 yellow rings. The upper appendages are dark brown.

Breeding: Larvae inhabit detritus or muddy substrates associated with some sections of running water.

Flight season: In the rainy season from December to February and April.

Max size: 70mm.

Conservation: Not threatened.
