Introduction: Southern Gorgeous Skimmers (Aethiothemis discrepans) occur at swampy sections of rivers.
Distribution: Mainly downstream from Divundu on the Kavango River.
Colouration: Yellow body with black markings. The abdomen is has a waxy light blue colour in males and a yellow pterostigma. There is a black median line along the back of the abdomen.
Breeding: Females copulate a number of times during their lifespan.
Flight season: December and from February to April
Max size: Medium-sized to small.
Conservation: Not threatened.
