Ruby Sprites have been observed in sections of the Kwando River with swampy fringes.

Introduction: Ruby Sprites (Pseudagrion rufostigma) have been observed in sections of the Kwando River with swampy fringes. Rufus is Latin for 'red, rufous' and the Greek stigma 'tattoo mark' referring to the colour of the pterostigma.

Distribution: Bum Hill in the Kwando River and the Popa Falls in the lower Kavango River.

Colouration: Red face and eyes with black markings. The abdomen is mainly black with some segments light blue.

Breeding: Emergence is in August.

Flight season: August to February.

Conservation: Not threatened.
