Pale/Pallid Spreadwing vary in colour with the pale form of the species common in the country's drier areas.

Introduction: Pale/Pallid Spreadwing (Lestes pallidus)vary in colour with the pale form of the species common in the country's drier areas. The Latin pallidus means 'pale' referring to the sandy brown members of Lestidae.

Distribution: Caprivi Strip, Etosha National Park, Kunene, Windhoek, Tsumkwe and many central and southern areas of Namibia.

Colouration: The thorax ranges from sandy brown to greenish, blue to nearly black.

Breeding: Larvae develop in temporary waters including submerged grass.

Flight season: Throughout the year.

Conservation: Not threatened.
