Introduction: Machado's Skimmer (Orthetrum machadoi) mainly inhabit floodplains, well-vegetated pans and perennial ponds. Adults have been observed perching away from the water in forests.
Distribution: Otavi Mountains, Von Bach Dam near Okahandja, Kwando River, Kunene River.
Colouration: Whitish face, dark green eyes and dark markings on the side of the thorax.
Breeding: Hairy larvae are often covered in mud, hence their preference for living on muddy ground.
Flight season: November to April.
Max size: 45mm.
Conservation: Not threatened.
