Introduction: Long or Slender Skimmer (Orthetrum trinacria) have characteristic long and slender abdomens. Habitats include oshanas and oxbow lakes, lakes, dams and flowing sections of ephemeral rivers.
Distribution: Caprivi Strip, Kunene River, Kavango River, Etosha National Park, Kaokoland, Damaraland, Swakopmund, Windhoek, northern, central and southern scattered populations.
Colouration: Features include rich blue eyes, a pale pterostigma. Males look almost black in flight.
Breeding: Larvae develop in temporary waters.
Flight season: Throughout the year.
Max size: 60mm.
Conservation: Not threatened.
