Kokytos Siphontails are a riverine species, inhabiting fast-flowing river sectors and rapids.

Introduction: Kokytos Siphontails (Neurogomphus cocytius) are a riverine species, inhabiting fast-flowing river sectors and rapids. Adults can be found in trees and shrubs not far from the riverside. The Latin Cocytus refers to Hades' Kokytus River of Greek mythology.

Distribution: Shamvura and Popa Falls.

Colouration: Clear yellow-green side of the thorax, greenish eyes, abdomen mainly cream and brown.

Breeding: Larvae have been observed in muddy ground.

Flight season: Not recorded.

Max size: 60mm.

Conservation: Data deficient on the Global Red List.
