Introduction: Hintz's Skimmer (Orthetrum hintzi) inhabit vegetation near the edges of rivers and streams. They are named in honour of a German engineer, Eugen Hintz (1860-1932) who collected dragonflies in the Portuguese Guinea.
Distribution: Kavango River region.
Colouration: Broad black edging along the abdomen and further broad black lines on the upper sections of the thorax.
Breeding: Larvae live on muddy ground.
Flight season: The rainy season.
Max size: 45mm.
Conservation: Not threatened.
