Introduction: Male Guinea Skimmers (Orthetrum guineense) have diagnostically shaped genitalia. There are few other distinguishing features. They are known to have originated from the Gulf of Guinea, hence the scientific name.
Distribution: Kavango River near the Angolan border and believed to exist in the Namibian region of the Kalahari Desert.
Colouration: Dark ground colour with few distinguishing features other than a blue pruinosity covering the male. The face is whitish.
Breeding: Females oviposit in thick vegetation
Flight season: April is the only confirmed month.
Max size: 44mm.
Conservation: Status not known in Namibia.
