Introduction: Global Wanderers (Pantala flavescens) emerge in huge numbers after rain. Adults occur in large numbers. This species is the most widespread species of dragonfly on the earth, entering Namibia regularly with rain-bearing winds.
Distribution: Occurs throughout Namibia including, Etosha National Park, Caprivi Strip, Epupa Falls, Rundu, Kaokoland, Damaraland and the Kalahari Desert. Scattered populations also exist in north-central, central and southern Namibia.
Colouration:They have large wings with orange tips.
Breeding: Breeds in rain pools and oviposits in any available freshwater body. Several generations are believed to be produced each year as larval development is below 40 days.
Flight season: October and May, June and July.
Conservation: Not threatened.
