Introduction: Cryptic Spreadwings (Lestes dissimulans) similar to Spotted Spreadwings in the males' appendages, hence the meaning of the Latin dissimulans. Habitats are temporary waters that fill after rains such as vegetation wetlands.
Distribution: North-east Namibia, Caprivi Strip along the Kavango River, Kaudom Game Park and the Otavi Mountains.
Colouration: Single dark spots on the sides of the thorax. In males the last 2 abdominal segments are covered by a light blue/whitish frosting.
Breeding: Oviposits into vegetation where the eggs siccatate (dry).
Flight season: End of November to March.
Conservation: Not threatened.
