Introduction: Cherry-eye Sprites (Pseudagrion sublacteum) will inhabit running waters, although sightings of this species at swimming pools have been recorded. Western ephemeral rivers are a common catchment areas for this Sprite.
Distribution: Kunene, Kavango, Kwando, Zambezi, Orange and Fish Rivers. Also Etosha National Park, Kaokoland, central and some southern Namibian locations.
Colouration: Unique purplish thorax in the males, cherry-red eyes in the frontal half. A mostly black abdomen and 'slightly milky' (sublacteum) whitish, translucent wings of the female.
Breeding: Emergence begins a few days before the larva leaves the water.
Flight season: Throughout the year, less for the month of September.
Conservation: Not threatened.
