Wandering Donkey Acraeas (Acraea neobule neobule) are slow, ground-hugging fliers that occur in open grassland and bushveld areas. They are seldom seen in large numbers, preferring to fly singly.

Introduction: Wandering Donkey Acraeas (Acraea neobule neobule) are slow, ground-hugging fliers that occur in open grassland and bushveld areas. They are seldom seen in large numbers, preferring to fly singly.

Distribution: Brandberg Mountai, Epupa Falls, Erongo Mountains. A common sight on Namibian koppies at midday. Not found in rainforests and prefers drier regions of the country.

Breeding: Granadilla is a host larvae plant.

Colouration: Distinctive small patch of orange on the apex of the forewing. Black dots on the hindwing.

On the wing: Throughout the year.

Wingspan: Male: 48 to 55 mm. Female: 50 to 55mm.
