Tinktinkie Blue (B. metophis) can be observed in some numbers near their food plant. They prefer a drier interior habitat.

Introduction: Tinktinkie Blue (B. metophis) can be observed in some numbers near their food plant. They prefer a drier interior habitat.

Distribution: Throughout Namibia including Etosha National Park and the Namib Desert , Walvis Bay , Swakopmund and Luderitz.

Breeding/Larval food: The ganna or saltbush family (Chenopodiceae) are fairly widespread in the Namib Desert . It includes spinach and beetroot. Chenopodiceae spp are saline tolerant.

Colouration: Deep brown uppersides with a white, forewing chequered cilia. The undersides sport both fine and irregular patterns.

On the wing: From September to April

Wingspan: Approx 20 to 25mm.
