Sesbania blue

Lepidochrysops pulcher
The Sesbania Blue (L. pulcher) butterfly is named after the tree of the same name. They flutter around slowly, usually about the orange flowers of the tall sesbania shrubs.

Introduction: The Sesbania Blue (L. pulcher) butterfly is named after the tree of the same name. They flutter around slowly, usually about the orange flowers of the tall sesbania shrubs.

Distribution: Katima Mulilo and other locations along the Kavango River.

Breeding/Larval food: The river-bean (Sesbania sesban) tree or shrub leaves attract this species.

Colouration: Iridescent pale blue colouring.

On the wing: Throughout the year.

Wingspan: Approx 25 to 30mm.
