Sesbania blue
Introduction: The Sesbania Blue (L.
pulcher) butterfly is named after the tree of the same name. They flutter
around slowly, usually about the orange flowers of the tall sesbania shrubs.
Distribution: Katima Mulilo and other locations along the Kavango River.
Breeding/Larval food: The
river-bean (Sesbania sesban) tree or shrub leaves attract this species.
Colouration: Iridescent pale
blue colouring.
On the wing: Throughout the
year.
Wingspan: Approx 25 to
30mm.
