Natal brown

Natal Browns are either sunning themselves or on the wing. Named as the LBJ's (Little Brown Jobs) of the butterfly world.

Introduction: Natal Browns are either sunning themselves or on the wing. Named as the LBJ's (Little Brown Jobs) of the butterfly world.

Distribution: Kaokoland with some observations recorded in Windhoek.

Breeding: Lay their eggs on grass leaves and stems. They are green at first, with stripes or bands appearing as the larvae develops.

Colouration: Reddish-ochre patches with eye-spots on the upper and undersides.

On the wing: October to May.

Wingspan: 34 to 39mm.
