Introduction: Fiery Acraea (Acraea acrita acrita) is a bright red insect that inhabits rocky outcrops and on some mountainous regions of the country.
Distribution: Kavango region, Damaraland and Owamboland.
Breeding: Various species of Adenia play host larvae to the Fiery Acraea.
Colouration: Flame red with an orange tint spread over the outer half of the forewing. More distinctive black spots are on the hindwing than the fore and the black outer margin encloses some bright red spots.
On the wing: Throughout the year.
Wingspan: Male: 45 to 62mm. Female: 45 to 52mm.
