Introduction: A Delagoa Sandman (Spialia delagoae) is known to fly close to the ground, usually around short grass, settling on mud or flowers with their wings open or at 45°.
Distribution: Common in warm bushveld areas of Namibia.
Breeding/Larval food: Larvae and pupae are similar in colour and size to those of Skippers.
Colouration: An unbroken, straight, light band on the underside of the hindwing distinguishes this species from other Sandmen.
On the wing: Throughout the year but seen more in the spring and late summer.
Wingspan: 20 to 35mm.
