Introduction: The darting zig-zagging flight pattern of the Dark Hottentot Skipper (Gegenes pumilio) can often be observed around shrubs, low vegetation and stones, all sites it would select to settle on.
Distribution: Windhoek.
Breeding/Larval food: Finely ribbed, domed, white to pale yellow eggs are laid on soft grasses. Pupae are white to brown, tapering towards the tail.
Colouration: Dark ground colour with some white spots on both forewings.
On the wing: Throughout the year.
Wingspan: Approx 40mm.
