Introduction: Common Smoky Blue (E. malathana) favour thornveld and grassland habitats, where they flutter around ground level.
Distribution: Katima Mulilo and other areas of the Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip) and north-eastern Namibia.
Breeding/Larval food: Fond of feeding on flowers in grass and sucking damp sand. Pupae are round at both ends.
Colouration: Blue with grey wings and a crescent-shaped orange (lunule) marking.
On the wing: For most months of the year.
Wingspan: 22 to 30mm.
