Common Jokers (Byblia anvatara achelola) favour an open savannah or grassland habitat. This allows them to fly close to the ground. They are attracted to banana bait traps and as they are a slow flier can be caught quite easily.

Introduction: Common Jokers (Byblia anvatara achelola) favour an open savannah or grassland habitat. This allows them to fly close to the ground. They are attracted to banana bait traps and as they are a slow flier can be caught quite easily.

Distribution: Tsumeb and other northern Namibian locations.

Breeding/Larval food: Euphorbiaceae spp.

Colouration: Rich orange base colour, upperside black markings and irregular black patches.

On the wing: Throughout the year.

Wingspan: Male: 40 to 45mm. Female: 40 to 48mm.
