Cambridge Vagrants are attractive but shy butterflies that hang around the edge of forests and thick bush, only coming out in the open to feed and sun itself.

Introduction: Cambridge Vagrants (Nepheronia thalassina sinalata) are attractive but shy butterflies that hang around the edge of forests and thick bush, only coming out in the open to feed and sun itself. If disturbed, they will head for the safety and cover of the undergrowth.

Distribution: Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip) , Etosha National Park , Epupa Falls, Tsumkwe, Damaraland , Kaokoland .

Breeding/Larval: The sourplum family (Olacaceae) and the spike-thorn family (Celastraceae).

Colouration: Males are pale sky-blue above with a narrow forewing costa black border. Females are white to pale yellow above with dark brown with blackish spots on the hindwing uppersides.

On the wing: An all year-round species less common in the winter months.

Wingspan: Male: 50 to 55mm. Female: 55 to 60mm.
