Rock catfish

The Rock-Catfish is a hardy bottom-dwelling catfish known for its adaptability to rocky river habitats and strong fin spines for defence.

Introduction: The rock catfish (Austroglanis sclateri) is native to the Okavango River basin in Namibia. It is a nocturnal species that inhabits slow-moving and still waters.

Distribution: The rock catfish is found in the Okavango River basin in Namibia.

Diet: Feeds on a variety of food items, including insects, crustaceans, and small fish.

Appearance: The rock catfish has a cylindrical body with a flat, broad head. Its colouration is generally dark brown or black with small light spots scattered across its body.

behaviour: This species is primarily nocturnal, becoming more active at night. During the day, it tends to hide among submerged vegetation or other cover.

Conservation: The conservation status of rock catfish is currently listed as "Least Concern" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
