Introduction: Montagu's Harrier (Circus pygargus) is an elegant bird of prey known for its graceful flight and hunting skills. This species is known to migrate across long distances, making it a fascinating bird to study.

Distribution: Montagu's Harriers can be spotted in Namibia during their migratory periods, especially in the central regions and along the coastal areas.

Diet: These harriers primarily feed on small mammals, birds, and insects. They are known for their impressive aerial hunting, where they use their keen eyesight to spot prey from high altitudes.

Description: Montagu's Harrier is a slender bird of prey with a distinct white rump and underparts. The male and female have different plumage, with the male having a grey head and wings, while the female displays a brownish colouration.

Breeding: Montagu's Harriers construct ground nests in open fields and grasslands. The female lays a clutch of eggs, and both parents participate in incubating and raising the chicks.

Size: Approximately 45cm.

Weight: Around 400g.
